The Jurançon vineyards, of which Monein is the historic capital, stretch over 1,400 hectares of green hills, offering exceptional views of the Pyrenees. Set on sunny hillsides, these vineyards benefit from a unique microclimate, combining the benefits of the mountains with the gentleness of the ocean, giving the wines a remarkable personality.
There are no grandiose châteaux here, just a number of small wine estates and a patchwork of small plots discreetly tucked away along the paths, cultivated by passionate winegrowers. These craftsmen of wine, attached to their land, preserve a know-how handed down from generation to generation. Each estate, often family-run, embodies a living history, a profound link between nature, tradition and transmission.
Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng, the emblematic grape varieties of Jurançon, are at the heart of this viticulture. Harvested by hand, sometimes very late to make the sweet wines, these grapes give birth to wines with delicious notes of peach, pear, vanilla, and sometimes exotic fruit or honey. The dry Jurançon seduces with its freshness and minerality, while the mellow, rich and complex, charms with its aromatic generosity.
